1908

Salvador Allende is born in Santiago, Chile. Son of Salvador Allende Castro and Laura Gossens Uribe.

1920

He received his primary education in Tacna, Iquique, Santiago and Valdivia.

1924

He completed his secondary education in Liceo de Valparaiso.

1925

He finishes his military service, graduates as Reserve Officer of the Army.

1926

He enters University of Chile’s School of Medicine.

1927

Elegido Presidente del Centro de Alumnos.

1930

Elected President of the Student Center.

1931

He carries out his Internship at Santiago’s Hospice.

1932

He takes on as Delegate of the School of Medicine at the University Council.
He graduates as Medical Surgeon from the University of Chile, with his thesis “Mental Health and Crime”.

1933

He participates in the foundation of the Socialist Party.

1935

Alessandri’s administration relegates him to the Caldera harbor.

1936

He participates in the creation of the “Frente Popular” coalition.

1937

Deputy for Valparaiso and Quillota.
Takes on as Assistant Secretary General of the Socialist Party.

1938

He takes on as Presidential Campaign Manager of Pedro Aguirre Cerda in Valparaiso.
He presents bills for the protection of the Mother and the Child, and the expansion of the Workers Compensation System .

1939

He takes on as Health Minister during Pedro Aguirre Cerda’s Administration.
He publishes Chile’s Social Medical Reality.
He reforms the Mandatory Workers Compensation.
He creates Chile’s Medical College (Trade Association).

1940

He resigns his position at the Ministry of Public Health.

1941

His daughter Carmen Paz is born.

1943

He takes on as Secretary-General of the Socialist Party.
His second daughter Beatriz “Tati” is born.

1945

Elegido Senador por las provincias de Osorno, Valdivia, Llanquihue, Chiloé, Aysén y Magallanes.

Nace su tercera hija, Isabel

1950

Asume como Presidente del Colegio Médico.

1952

Primera candidatura a la Presidencia de la República por el Frente del Pueblo.

1953

Elegido Senador por Tarapacá y Antofagasta.

1954

Asume la Vicepresidencia del Senado.

1955

Senado aprueba su proyecto de creación del Servicio Nacional de Salud y su Seguridad Social.

1958

Segunda candidatura a la Presidencia de la República por el Frente de Acción Popular (FRAP) Obtiene 2° con 356.493 votos, contra 389.909 de Alessandri R.

1961

Elegido Senador por Valparaiso y Aconcagua.

1964

Tercera candidatura a la Presidencia de la República por el FRAP.

1966

Asume como Presidente del Senado

1967

Asume como Presidente de la Organización Latinoamericana de Solidaridad.

1969

Senador por Chiloé, Aysen y Magallanes.

Se entrevista con Ho Chi Min en Vietnam.

1970

Cuarta candidatura por la Unidad Popular. Gana como 1° mayoría con el 36 % de los votos.

El Congreso Pleno ratifica la victoria Presidencial.

Reestablece relaciones con Cuba.

1971

Visita Argentina, Perú, Ecuador, Colombia.

Reconoce a China, establece relaciones con todos los paises del mundo.

1972

Visita México, la ONU, Unión Sovietica Argelia, Cuba, y Venezuela.

1973

Propone a PDC acuerdo parlamentario.

Realiza alocución por radio anunciando mensaje para el día siguiente convocando a la ciudadanía a un plebiscito.

La Moneda asaltada por aviación, artillería, blindados e infantería. Muere tras 4 horas de combate.
